Users wont lose their music, they will still be able to use the OneDrive web player or download their files which they can then play in the Groove Music app or anywhere else.Īnyone who is worried about losing their music can back up their Groove Music data. On March 31st, OneDrive music streaming in Groove Music will be retired.

Microsoft have silently announced that at the end of March they will end this streaming support via an updated Support page.

The service closed down but users were able to access their music in the Groove Music application from their OneDrive cloud storage. Unfortunately it didn’t have much of an impact and was discontinued at the end of 2017. It was released to replace their Xbox Music store and offer a slicker more accessible modern music service. Microsoft’s Groove Music had a storied past that unfortunately never led anywhere. Hope this helps if you have had similar problems.Microsoft’s attempt at getting in on the music streaming hype didn’t go so well and it’s last remnants are now finally being retired. I cant confirm but I believe the problem was the ONE DRIVE APP from the store as it is a coincidence that Forza Groove Music worked fine prior to it, then works fine after I removed it. I then created a new playlist and loaded up Forza, this time groove music worked fine. So to cut the story short, what changed for me for Groove Music to suddenly stop working, then it dawned on me, I had previously downloaded the ONE DRIVE app from the Microsoft store, I uninstalled the app, deleted my songs and playlists, I then opened the One Drive on PC and added my songs to its folder which then uploads to I then moved the music files to the music folder, if you do not have a folder called music at OneDrive then simply create one, just name it 'music'Īfter moving the songs to the folder I logged out of one drive and loaded up groove music, at first my songs did not appear, but closing it and opening a few times a message appeared 101 songs added. I was confused what had changed, I contacted Microsoft and the lady although very informative could not work it out, we ended support with her claiming she would forward the matter to tech, in other words, brushed under the carpet. I had Groove Music working fine in Forza 3 without a subscription playing my own songs, then one day it just stopped and gave SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED TO PLAY THIS PLAYLIST message in Forza. If you are experiencing problems with Groove Music in Forza 3 Horizons as I once did then try the following.
